The November magazine is live and just in time for the holiday rush! We feel that the stories and articles this month covered crucial topics for sellers as we enter into the busiest time of the year. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the rush of orders and holiday marketing. That’s why we have several topics about time management, such as how Natalie hired high school and college students to help run her business. She now has 125,000 sales on Etsy!
We also dive into topics about confidence and getting out of your head to better function in the present moment. Jamie talks about her struggle with imposter syndrome and Naveena discusses how her art business changed when she became more present and stopped living by her “to do” list.
Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
Most of us who start a business in the creative field are doing so with little to no business experience and that was the case for Jamie as well. Jumping into something new like this can easily leave us with feelings of doubt and inadequacy. We’re so grateful to Jamie for openly sharing how imposter syndrome held her back and how she is overcoming it.
“At the time when I first began this journey, part of me was so proud that I had taken this step but another part of me was absolutely terrified of what other people would think. I wanted my family and friends to think I was this amazing person, meanwhile the fear of being “found out” as a faker was very real.”
– Jamie Saphow @elementalpromise
We actually featured Natalie in our magazine back in 2018. At the time, she had around 20,000 sales on Etsy. Later on, we updated the article to reflect that she’d made 56,000 sales. We’ve followed her success since and after seeing that she’d reached 125,000+ sales, we decided to get in touch and see how her journey has progressed! Her team of young students has helped her company thrive and she’s sharing how it all works. They’re currently shipping out 800 packages per week!
“Community is so important at The Painted Press, especially after the last year and a half. Our team is a family, I trust them and they trust me. We’ve endured a season (Covid) together that no small business wants to go through, but we made it through together!”

Our Third Featured Story: Staying in the Present Moment
Naveena is an artist who experienced the crushing pressure of being controlled by her to-do list. After all, it takes planning and discipline to run a business while also creating new products. To get things done, she planned days down to the minute, but that soon began to hurt more than it helped. Now she says that her focus is on being present 100% and it’s having a positive impact on her business!
“I used to be an obsessive planner. Though I got a lot done, it soon seemed like a prison based on clock time. Now, my focus is to stay 100% in the present and let presence guide my work. It works!”
– Naveena Vijayan @naveenavijayan
