The August magazine is live and boy are we excited for issue #59! Blogging is something we’ve always brought up because it’s one of the best ways to grow your online following, but the question that always comes up is, “What do I blog about?” Well, meet Laura! She gets 30% of her Etsy traffic from Pinterest and it’s all because of her blogging and pinning. Open up the magazine to read about her journey with Etsy and Pinterest and what she’s learned along the way:
- Why Pinterest + blogging + Etsy work so well for her
- What kinds of topics she blogs about (you get to see her blog posts)
- How she gets viewers onto her email list
- How she directs traffic from her blog to her Etsy shop without being too salesy
- Why she doesn’t just pin photos of Etsy products (+ a guide to how she does do it)
“Once I realized there was no ‘one size fits all’ marketing strategy for running an Etsy shop, I knew I needed to develop a strategy that would work for my specific business. Pinterest appealed to me because it is very low risk. You’re free to try all kinds of tactics with no commitment. You get endless do-overs until you find what works.”
– Laura Nightingale from The Yellow Birdhouse
Offering Porch Pick-Ups…
Our second featured seller, Megan, got really creative when COVID-19 hit and all of her craft fair shows were canceled. She began contacting every local group she could find and offered porch pick-ups for her products so that delivery was contactless and she didn’t have to go to the post office. Her customers loved it!
“I needed to find something to occupy my time and keep my body and mind moving, which led me to change my business strategy.”
– Megan Gladney from Carefree Highway MKT
Crowdfunding for Women…
Our third featured seller, Michelle, was interviewed by our new columnist this month because she raised funds via a women-only crowdfunding service to launch her clothing and accessories brand. Read about her experience and why she now recommends crowdfunding to anyone who needs to raise capital for their business!
“Crowdfunding is such a great way to get your product out there and feel out the market without spending too much capital. It’s a no-brainer.”
Michelle McGarry from Hippie Brand Co.
