Are you looking for a little free help to boost your business? It can be challenging for small businesses to be discovered when there are so many businesses competing for consumer attention. Few small companies also have large advertising spend budgets that allow for competing with larger companies.
As consumers, it can also be surprisingly difficult to find local handmade businesses with the types of products that you wish to purchase. We want to highlight a new company that brings a novel approach to the discovery of local handmade products.
Artisan Ave initially launched in Denver and Fargo with a small community of artisans. Artisan Ave was created as a way to help consumers find local artisan businesses and support the local community. It is an online directory of Artisan businesses. The directory can be searched by region, category, medium, and keywords. Each artisan that is part of the directory provides links to their individual processing platform whether it is a website or an existing marketplace.
The owners of Artisan Ave are also artisans themselves. We asked why they created this directory, and Kristin shared “We feel something like this helps make it a healthier industry for a sustainable business, and helps the industry grow.”
Members that are part of the free directory can also upgrade to be part of a paid membership collective. This is not required but provides some additional benefits. Jessica shared “our membership collective also gets you access to special discounts, programs, and services. We want to make it easier to run a successful handmade business. Our special discounts help reduce the bottom line for artisans so that more goes into their pockets.”
How can you be a part of this industry-wide database? All artisans must apply to be a part of the catalog. The online application process is straightforward and similar to what you might find to apply to sell at an in person market. Being part of the artisan catalog is free for accepted applications.
